You can buy a digital download for $8.45 (the price of two slices of pizza and a coke at the pizza place down my street!) or buy a deluxe edition for $40 (more on this in a second).  I know it’s easy to distribute mp3s for free, but keep in mind that your purchase will help me survive and give a big push towards getting a real label (or something) involved in my music.  If I ever have the resources to make big studio records, I’ll be giving you guys as much free music as I possibly can.  I want to use this record to promote myself and get some things happening with all the connections I’ve been making over the last three years.  I would really like to be able to turn my internet back on, get some groceries, and get some cough medicine (haha!!  do I sound pathetic enough??) and get some physical promotional copies of this thing made.  Let’s get this music out there!!  It’s time to shop labels/management/promotion!!  I need your help!

*About the deluxe edition:  As we’ve been making Part II, I’ve been hard at work on a Deluxe Edition of Virginia Is For Hoverers.  The Deluxe Edition will feature Virginia Is For Hoverers (Part I and II) as physical copies, with a bunch of bonus stuff, including cool bonus artwork.  They will be mailed out in about three weeks (prints and CDs are being copied!!), but you get the digital downloads of Part I AND II, plus the Big Girl and Sugar singles  immediately.  The package will feature:

  • Large 18″ X 18″ prints of Part I and II album covers
  • Physical copies of Part I and Part II
  • Bonus artwork
  • Bonus CD of alternative mixes, versions, and entirely new songs!
  • Bonus CD of every Tuesday Tape ever recorded
  • Artist commentary (ranting over tracks)
  • Signed, personalized drawing

Listen loud.

Enjoy.

  2. Evan says:

LOVE the album art by the way (: hahaha

  3. Bought the regular album, can’t afford the deluxe one as I’m probably as broke as Chris right now ;) Can’t wait to give it a listen . . . SPEED UP, DOWNLOAD!

  4. I’ll be buying the Deluxe Edition next Thursday (when I am next paid) because I am a G.D. patron of the arts. :D I’m sorry I can’t buy it sooner, but I am REALLY psyched about the artist commentary, and about the 18×18 prints! I hope you still make a wide profit margin with those extras. Thank you, Chris. :)

  5. Something to think about for the near future (Springtime?) Getting this shiz up on the RockBand Network.

Chris, you’ve really outdone yourself this time, and that’s quite the accomplishment. Just finished a first listen through, front to back, and I am in awe of your musicianship all over again. The harmonies are insane, your piano abilities as great as ever, and hot dang, Brett and Jake make such an impressive rhythm section. I’ve felt up to this point that Pixie And The Bear was your definitive work, but I think this will begin to rival it all too soon. You’re easily my favorite musician, Chris, and you just keep getting better. Thanks for being such an inspiration musically and just for being such a genuine person. Cannot wait to get the deluxe edition spoils in a few weeks. Thanks again for writing true, real music. Real GREAT music.

  7. Steve Pick says:

HOORAY! I think you’ve just made my week, Mr. Merritt! Cheers :D

  8. Taylor says:

Chris, you’re my new favorite musician and you’re all I listen to these days. And I only have 5 tracks! I can’t wait to buy the new album!

  9. madmama says:

    CHRIS’ BEST YET!!!

It’s like a Pixar movie – catches everyone from an “old evolutionist” to a 14 year old in love for the first time.

    BRAVO, CHRIS!

  10. Sally says:

    YES!!!!!! awesometasticaliciousnessnessness!!!

    thank you Chris!!

  11. Jake says:

This is brilliant stuff Chris. love the album.

  12. Emma says:

I look forward to hearing it.

  13. Emma says:

Ok, am listening to it now. You just get better Chris…like a fine wine or cheese or something. Not that I’m comparing you with a block of cheese, but you know what I mean. This has made my day and I know for a fact that it’ll be part of my playlist for a while. It’s mad insane that I have such a talented friend such as you and the cheerleading continues.

Ok, rambling over. Speak soon. You have somebody to meet over Skype when you have recovered from re-entering the real world.

  14. Bought it, it’s awesome. Finally!!!!!

  15. madmama says:

like the Alzheimer’s song about grandma, Pep Pep but it makes me so sad

  16. Heidi says:

YAHOO! perfect timing, we leave for a nice looong road trip tomorrow so I will have plenty of time to fall in love with all your songs—like I always do!!

  17. Supporter says:

Listening to it non-stop! Was great from the start, but the more I listen, the more I love it!

  18. Bought. Downloading. Soon to be listening. Don’t have the dough for the $40 one, but will be asking for for Christmas. Will it still be available then, or is this limited time only?

  19. maitlandkendrick says:

YOU ARE AMAZING. KEEP SINGING FOREVER

  20. Benny Sachel says:

I bought two copies. One for each of the girlfriends I’m going to be able to get when I roll up in my car blasting these jams.

  21. Thanks for another great CD Chris! Loving it!

So weird hearing the melody for “Flightless” with different words in “Spin the Bottle Champion”…

  22. Chris Merritt says:

WOW. Thanks for all the comments guys!!!

I genuinely think this turned into something really special. Too much work was spent overcoming budget obstacles – but I think it turned into something more than the sum of its parts, regardless. I couldn’t be more proud of it. I can’t listen to it, of course, I need to give it a couple weeks. I can only hear the imperfections right now.

Spend some time with it. It has depth, too. Everyone involved did such a great job – congrats to Brett, Jake, Melissa, Andy, Nathan.

The Deluxe edition is freaking sweet and will be available for at least a while. You definitely have till xmas.

If anyone really can’t afford this record, or has a bank stealing money from them, or doesn’t have a bank account, send me an email, and I’ll link you to it. Empires collapsing on themselves shouldn’t stop musical enjoyment. Oh wait, the dark ages. Well. Let’s not go there again, please.

The next step is to get this to AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. It’s time for some big things to happen. Just wait until I have 100,000 bucks to make a record! You won’t even believe it.

@Chris – yep! I plagiarized myself! I always felt like that was a sweeter, more romantic melody than it was used in Flightless, even though I like Flightless a lot.

  23. Sean says:

So…will, by any chance, the deluxe edition still be available in two months when I start my new job? Because that would be awesome.

  24. Sean says:

Oops, didn’t actually read the comments. Sweet. I’ll be buying this as soon as possible!

  25. Donna says:

It’s incredible into what you turned this album.

    Your music is just great!

  26. Kasey says:

Just bought the new cd and I am loving it. I’ve been listening to the old versions of songs like “Sugar” and “Margaux” for the past 3-4 years and to hear the “real” versions of them is really cool. Love these songs! Well done, brother. We need to hang the next time you’re out in Utah.
