thanks @Matt!!

I hear the worst songs in the grocery store. I always sing bad new pop songs to people and they haven't heard them somehow. I don't know how I'm exposed more to them - I don't turn on the radio. Maybe I'm just always looking for a song to bitch about subconsciously!

@Josh - good point for sure! proponents of the hypothesis have some kind of answer for that. But I tend to think that the aquatic ape theory has some pretty big issues in general upon doing more research.

I could see how less hair could have evolved in other ways - although, compelling is the fact that the hair we do have is streamlined.

I wouldn't doubt that water has SOME kind of significant role in our evolution. I mean, the story of human civilizations is the story of water manipulation and water travel. And why do we love it so much? Kids stay in the water all summer except to sleep. The beach is the number one vacation destination for humanity.

It could just be the fact that water in general is the most important chemical by far in any kind of biological life on earth. Who knows? :)

"we’re hairless – like every other mammal that is aquatic" What about beavers, otters, and pinnipeds? They have lots of fur lol. But, aquatic hominid ancestor or not, the ocean is rooted deep within our genetics, and I share I similar feeling of "euphoria" whenever I'm in the ocean.
Anyways, cool song, I'm looking forward to exploring more of your music. it makes me want to go to the beach and play in the tide pools.

I LOVE this song. I think it's my favorite on Virginia is For Hoverers part. 2. I also HATE the played-out crap that gets all the radio air-time. For example, today in the grocery store I heard a TERRIBLE cover of a Savage Garden song on the radio. It was like some musical "artist" ate the crap (Savage Garden), crapped it out for themselves (did a cover) and then fed it to me.

I remember when the sketch version of Surfin' was a Tuesday Tape, and then when you played it as the start of a concert in Upperville a week later. And then when you played the fully-finished song for the first time live in Richmond, and my jaw hit the deck. I wanted to tell you that night how perfect I thought it'd turned out, but I didn't do it. Definitely my favorite song on Hoverers 2!

The theory about aquatic apes is pretty cool, too. I didn't know apes couldn't be morbidly obese. 'Never even thought about it! Excellent food for thought. :)

WOW, thanks for that post Chris. You are bizarre and it makes me laugh. I am so glad u posted those lyrics they have been running wild in my mind, but I couldn't pin them down, or figure out what it all meant. That is probably my favorite song (so far, i usually have a first off favorite but the real favorite emerges later on) on the new album. You are one talented guy, your lyrics always amaze me:) Keep em coming...

Great to hear that your music is doing well!!! You soooo deserve it. It's amazing how you did much of this recording in your apartment...are you kidding me??? Sure would have loved to have been an amoeba on that wall. I think that is why I like following your blog. You really do a great job documenting your creative process. Love that. So the lyrics and commentary are really appreciated here, along with your AWESOME music!!! Plus, I am looking forward to all the fun stuff coming in the mail soon too!

Just bought the new cd and I am loving it. I've been listening to the old versions of songs like "Sugar" and "Margaux" for the past 3-4 years and to hear the "real" versions of them is really cool. Love these songs! Well done, brother. We need to hang the next time you're out in Utah.
