from Chris Merritt:
Virginia Is For Hoverers (Part II) (2010)
I got a radio, it sounds a little funky / I got a radio, but it tries to fool me / I got a radio, but it appeals to monkeys / I smash a radio, and it starts to soothe me
You suck when you sing / Your slow-moving king has lost to my queen
I got a radio, it sounds a little funky / I got a radio, but it tried to fool me / I got a radio, it appeals to monkeys / I smash a radio, and it starts to soothe me
Your bitches are broke / Your bands are a joke / And you can’t hold us back / We’ve taken your land, but we don’t have a plan for building it back
It tries to fool me
Far far away from the love I’ve seen / Opposite sides of a limousine / Making a path through the hordes of zombies / Anyone out there to hear me? Please
Give your bishops rusty saws (Never gonna break) / Give your knights a giant hoss (Never gonna break) / Give your pawns a worthy cause (Never gonna break) / Give your rooks degrees in law
I got a radio, it sounds a little funky / I got a radio, and it tries to fool me / I got a radio, but it appeals to monkeys / I smash a radio, and it starts to soothe me
I got a radio, it sounds a little funky / I got a radio, and it tries to fool me / I got a radio, but it appeals to monkeys / I smash a radio, and it starts to soothe me
Brett: AAArrrghhh! I f***ed up a little bit on the end. Chris: yeah me too! (impromptu song) Beautiful. Okay, good on Radio.
Original demo in “Media”. The original demo is one I always felt sentimental about. I recorded it alone at college over winter break along with all the demos in that batch. It was cold and dark and lonely, but I was ecstatic about the music I was making. Plus I was playing American McGee’s Alice on computer. I don’t know what that has to do with anything but I hear all those things in the demo.
The album version is a different beast entirely. Brett R and I developed it into a straight up swingy rock thing.
