The Beautiful Ms. Parker And I Approach The Singularity (2040)

This song is about the infamous thieving duo Bonnie And Clyde, but it takes place in the year 2040, where they have been genetically cloned in an attempt by future scientists to research the idea that people are governed more by their DNA than their environment, which has become an important subject due to the 2018 breakthrough in physics that definitively links relativity and quantum mechanics with consciousness. The research team is working under the umbrella of the gigantic quasi-governmental corporation called the The Center, which got its start in nanotechnology and genetics, and came about at just the right point in the technological singularity to ride the wave to enormous, monolithic proportions. The Center has effectively slowed the singularity and has its hand in most governments of the world. Most groundbreaking science occurs in private and secret circles. Bonnie 2.0 and Clyde 2.0 are born to surrogate families which are geographically distant, and both are raised in healthy, educational, wealthy environments.

To the surprise of the research team, not only do the subjects revert to their criminal tendencies soon after adulthood, but they also meet, fall in love, and go on a crime spree which is remarkably similar to their historic wave of bank robberies. However, instead of guns and cash, they use nanotechnology and viral hacking genius to steal money of a virtual type.

The couple’s final heist is also their most ambitious; The Center itself. Upon breaking into a more discreet physical location and hacking into The Center’s main archives, they discover the truth about themselves; they are clones of historical criminals. They also discover that they have been found out, and that a massive military unit has been dispatched to kill them.

So anyway, that’s what that song is about.
